Counselors try to be objective, but their personal opinions and training will effect the way they help you. While I do believe I could help just about anyone, my Christian beliefs and psychological training are the underlying principles which guide my discussions with my clients. Feel free to ask me any specific questions you may have about my faith or about my approach to counseling. My Approach to Counseling is dictated by your particular situation. For example, effective marriage counseling requires that both parties be willing to deal with the problems. However, this isn't always possible. One spouse may not be interested in saving the marriage, or simply isn't interested in talking with a counselor. These situations require me to approach each scenario differently. I have extensive experience in helping couples improve their marriage relationship. One of the problems in marital counseling is that men don't want to be a part of the process. They think the counseling experience will be too "emotional". I don't try to make men act out of character for themselves. I can work with about any type of personality. Because of this, men generally thank me for making the process one that they actually enjoy rather than dread. I also have experience in several other areas. One of the most common issues that people have seen me for is dealing with the effects of sexual abuse. I have helped many people break free from all kinds of abuse. Additionally I have helped numerous parents learn to deal with difficult parenting situations. Lets face it, no matter how hard we try, the world's influence has a powerful effect on our kids. When kids decide to go astray the whole family feels the stress of their decision. I can teach you ways of coping personally. I can also help you develop methods to redirect your child's behavior. I also have extensive experience helping people overcome stress and anxiety. Panic disorders make the world seem out of control. I am not a doctor so I can't advise you concerning medication. But God has powerful ways of intervening in peoples lives in the areas of fear and anxiety. I have found individuals respond very well to spiritual treatment methods in these areas. The professional approaches I have been trained in are Brief Solution Oriented Therapy, and Strategic Therapy. How does this process work? At that point we will set up a mutually agreeable time to talk. I will be glad to come to your house. We can also communicate online if you prefer that to talking in person. How does the payment work? This is the best part for you. There is no fee involved. But here is my promise to you. We won't continue on past 10 sessions and you will see some improvement in you situation. However, research has shown that there is not much gain from seeing the same counselor for more than 10 sessions. After that the benefit drops off dramatically. So we will keep our sessions limited to no more than 10. You can quit any time you think you are ready to deal with your situation on your own. This whole process is dictated by you. |
